Why do our beloved die?

Death is one of the greatest mysteries for humanity. Scientists and scholars have attempted to explain it but they have not found an answer to satisfy all of us. We Christians find in our faith the necessary elements to give an answer about the death of people who are dear to us as well as about our own death. This answer does not clarify totally the human mystery, which is a mystery of life and death. We are finite beings, that is, our physical condition deteriorates with age and illnesses. But at the same time we are infinite beings called to participate with God in the eternity of love that He has prepared for each one of us.

Jesus tells us that “There are many rooms in my Father’s house prepared for you.” We live in the hope of reaching eternity when we rise with Christ to a life in fullness. Our mortality is undeniable; it is also a mystery. But the most important thing is the call to life and full, abundant life (John 10:10) what each one of us has received. What are we doing with our lives, how are we living them? How are we preparing for fullness of life after our earthly life? Love deeply those who are near you; relate to them in the best way so that when they die your heart will be at peace despite of that great sorrow that the death of those who love causes us.
