October 3 – Saint Gerard of Brogne

Born in the 9th Century to a well-off family, but always felt a strong attraction to the life of prayer. Gerard heard the call to religious life and joined the Monastery of Saint Denis. After his studies, Gerard was granted permission to fund his own monastery, but because of his success, he saw his monastery full of life and activity, so he retired to live in solidarity. Soon after, however, his superiors asked that Gerard visit other monasteries to offer support and orientation to the monks.

Do you see the signs in your surroundings and in the calls of others the call of God to you? What do you think it is?
