September 13. Saint John Chrysostom

There are people we just love to listen to. We would be listening for hours. Such must have John Chrysostome, a saint of the 4th century. Chrysostome means “mouth of gold”. He spoke well, much, and without fear. His boldness in preaching the ethics of the gospel, in defending the poor against the insolence and injustice of the rich, earned him the hostility of many and particularly of the Emperatrix, Eudoxia, who sent him into exile.

What are your conversations like? Do you dare to defend things in which you believe? Do you prepare carefully for what to say to those you have to speak, prudently, but with courage?
