He was in Coimbra, Portugal when he when he witnessed the arrival of five Franciscans dead bodies from Morocco, for their faith. This was a calling to join the Franciscans and follow the footsteps of Saint Francis. He preached in Italy and France. He spoke to people, birds and fish, and they obeyed him. He was canonized immediately after his death.
