March 21 – Saint Serapion


He lived in Egypt in the 4th century. He was well educated and studied theology. For some time, he was the director of the school in Alexandria. He later went to the desert to pray and became a monk. He met Saint Anthony Abbot and tried to learn from him. Later, he was named bishop of Thmuis, in southern Egypt. He fought against heresies of his time in his homilies and writings. He was sent to exile by the emperor Constantine and died in exile.
