Oh mea culpa!

Lately I have come across may people who lament so much to be so “weak,” so “bad,” such “sinners.” And, on top of that, with Lent upon us, there is a tendency to focus rather on our faults and what we should do in order to correct these “defects.” This in itself is not bad; yet the problem arises when we think that our life has only one dimension. We are not one-dimensional people; we are daughters and sons of God! Pope Benedict, right after his election, expressed clearly in his opening address that “we are loved, wanted and needed by God even before our birth.” The origin of our identity is God and nothing but God; let us refuse to let the guilt of sin define us.
