February 23 – Saint Polycarp

He was a Christian of the first century, disciple of the Apostle John. He was the bishop of Smyrna, now known as Turkey. The Christians recognized him as a saintly and courageous shepherd, in the midst of all the persecutions of his time. Polycarp was arrested during the persecution under Marcus Aurelius. When the judge tried to convince him to reject Christ to save his life, he said: “I served him my whole life, and he has never done me wrong.  How could I curse my king who died for me?” Polycarp died a martyr in 155.

Do I get intimidated before the pressures to do things that I know are not right?
