January 10 - Saint William

Trade: archbishop

He was a young man from a very rich family in France, but he never enjoyed wasting time doing nothing. He became a Cistercian monk and was later named the archbishop of Bourges. As archbishop, although he would have preferred to dedicate himself to prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament, he knew his obligation was to be with the people and dedicated all his energy to traveling throughout the archdiocese visiting the poor and the sick. He died in 1209.
