She is a Greek saint who, at the death of her parents utilized her fortune to help the poor. During her time, in the 2nd century, there was a great persecution against Christians and when she was arrested by a soldier as she addressed a community assembly, she had confessed to be a “servant of Jesus Christ”. The soldier killed her right then. After the persecution ended, Christians of Thessalonica built a church in the place where Anysia died.
