December 2 - Saint Viviana

She was the daughter of a Christian prefect of Rome under the government of Emperor Julian, also a Christian, but who later left his faith. Julian ordered the arrest of the Flavianus, Viviana’s father, and sent him to exile. After his death, Viviana’s mother continued to practice Christianity faithfully until she was finally also arrested and condemned. Viviana and her sister Demetria continued to pray and in time were also arrested. Demetria suffered a heart attack and died at the judge’s feet.  Viviana was given over to a prostitution house, but neither praise nor threats made her leave her faith. Then, she was also martyred.

Are you sometimes scared when the people close to you suffer negative consequences for defending justice or truth? Are you willing to imitate those persons?
