November 15 – Saint Albert the Great
Albert was German and from a noble family. He attended the university in Italy and when he discovered his religious vocation, his family tried to discourage him. When he entered the Dominican order, his father was upset and the friars feared he would go to the monastery and take Albert to return to the castle where they lived. They transferred him to a further location. His father did not go searching for him.
Albert dedicated himself to studying sciences and theology. He taught at different universities and one of his most famous students is Saint Thomas Aquino, the great theologian of the Church. But, above all, Albert was a man of great love for God.
He is the patron of university students.
