He was a soldier and even though his parents were pagan, Martin started to study Christianity. One very cold day, Martin found himself with a begger near the city of Amiens, France. He gave him half of his blanket. During the night, Jesus appeared to him wearing Martin’s half blanket. A few years later, Martin left the army and became a priest. He was named bishop of Tours, where he fought off heresies. He prayed, worked, and preached everywhere possible.
