October 24 – Saint Anthony Claret

He was the son of a weaver, and in his youth, worked his father’s trade. But his heart was always in preaching and spreading the Gospel. After being ordained a priest, he dedicated himself to the popular missions in Spain, tirelessly walking. He was convinced of the strength of the written word and wrote many books on popular circulation. Anthony founded the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (today known as the Claretians). Anthony became the bishop of the Canary Islands and later in Cuba, where he preached against bad norms, like slavery, discrimination and usury. He was a reformer and had enemies, but he never backed down in fulfilling his mission.

Through what paths do you believe the Lord is calling you today?
