October 14 - Saint Callistus

Callistus was a slave who had serious problems with his master when he lost money from the bank he had been entrusted with. He escaped but was captured. They freed him expecting to recover some of the money he lost, but was arrested again for fighting. He was sentenced to the mines in Sardinia, but was released again when all the Christian that had been condemned to the mines were freed. From that moment on, St. Callistus changes his life and eventually succeeded Pope Zephyrinus. He was a compassionate and kind pope, offering forgiveness to everyone, no matter what heinous crime they may have committed. He died in 222, martyred for his faith.

Do you think that if you have committed errors it is too late to change? Do you generously and openly forgive those who ask for forgiveness?
