Francis was born in the 12th century in Italy. He was from a family of businessmen and enjoyed parties and having a good time. He was handsome and rich, but after a few adventures he began to reflect and came to the conclusion that he was living with a great emptiness. Francis decided to leave everything behind, and against the will of his father, left his home and with a group of friends started to live a simple life of poverty and contact with God and nature. His followers are now known as the Franciscans, and are all over the world.
