September 21 - Reflection: Saint Matthew
There are people who fascinate and attract as if they were magnets. The power of Jesus must have been such because, as he went by and called someone, that person would immediately get up and follow. But what happened to Matthew is that he felt recognized and accepted, when many ignored or rejected him. We would probably do the same often. One of our deepest desires, our deepest thirsts is to be recognized as persons, accepted and loved. Jesus does precisely that. With all and each one of us. If we listen and meet the living Christ, we cannot help but be attracted to him.
Have you ever felt someone loved you unconditionally? How do you think Jesus loves you? Do you feel called to follow him? What would you have to leave behind?
