September 17 - Saint Robert Bellarmine

From a young age Robert showed a great devotion. His father wanted him to be famous and educated him with care, with music and art classes. Robert wanted to be a Jesuit but his father had other plans. In the end, his father gave in. Robert was a great writer, preacher, and teacher. He wrote many books, and prayed a lot. When he was named cardinal, he continued to teach catechism to the people in his home and to the village.

He would say: "If you are wise, then be conscious that you were made for the glory of God and for your own eternal salvation. This is your end; this is the center of your life; this is the treasure of your life”.
