September 17. Saint Robert Bellarmine
He gave away everything he had, including the curtains of his Vatican suite. He said, “Walls don’t feel the cold.”
He was a humble man, kind to all. And yet, this Jesuit priest, made into a Cardinal, was called “the hammer of heretics” because of his passionate defense of the faith during the 16th century. He is a doctor of the church. He wrote catechisms and theological treatises.
How do you behave when you know something that others don´t? Do you explain it with patience and kindness or do you think the others are inferior? Are you interested to know your faith and to study the catechism?
