September 14 - Exaltation of the Cross
Although the reason behind this feast day was the recovery of the Cross that St. Helena, the mother of the Emperor Constantine, had found in Jerusalem, in reality today it is an invitation to consider the salvation and healing power of the cross of Christ. Many times we wear a crucifix on our necks or have them in our homes, but perhaps out of habit we may not reflect on its meaning, which is so central to our lives.
Look at a crucifix and reflect on what this image means to you. Give thanks for the life of Christ which offers freedom and healing.
