September 6 - Reflection
There are people who can’t stand it when others do things well. That jealousy leads them to attacking others, to seek reasons to justify their irritation. Jealousy is always reflective of insecurity. As they are not comfortable with themselves, they cannot recognize the good in others. That only leads to bitterness. If the teachers of the law and the Pharisees had been secure of their own goodness, they would not have to be upset about the good Jesus does. But goodness really slaps them in the face.
Do you sometimes feel bitter and resent the fact that others do things better than you? How do you deal with that…attacking or trying to recognize the good qualities you have in yourself?
