He is the only saint that has two feast days: his birth and his death. Maybe with this, one can recognize the vast importance of John as the first “evangelist” or as the first to announce the coming of Christ. John always recognized that his cousin Jesus was more important than himself; he did not try to compete in preaching, but would always indicate where one can find true salvation.
Do you sometimes want to be more important than others? If you do something right, do you do it for the glory of God, or to be recognized for how good you are?
