August 19 – Saint John Eudes

The parents of this French young man from the 17th century wanted to convince him to marry and have a family. But kindly, but firmly, maintained in his call to priesthood. Right after he was ordained, there was a plague and John presented himself as a volunteer to care for the sick. Later he preached in parishes and missions. John founded the Sisters of Our lady of Charity, and the Sisters of the Good Shepherd. Afterwards he founded a congregation of priest, the Congregation of Jesus and Mary. This congregation’s mission was the formation of young men to priesthood.

Are you capable of defending your convictions with firmness, but also kindly?
