Our Lady of the Snows Legend says that Mary appeared in a dream to an aristocratic Roman, his wife, and the Pope asking them to build a temple on the Esquiline Hill, on the site where they found snow. Only problem was that it was August, an extremely hot month in Rome. But just as Mary told them, they found snow and a church was built there in her honor, which today is called the Basilica of St. Mary Major.
