He was born in the 5th Century and was the son of a rich roman family. He studied in Rome and during his time there, he realized there was corruption in the pagan city. He left the city to retire as a hermit. Soon other youth went to him for counsel. He then started to establish monasteries. He founded up to twelve monasteries. He wrote the order which today is followed by the monks known as Benedictines.
