May 27 – Saint Augustine of Canterbury
A Benedictine monk of the 6th century, Augustine is better known as the major evangelist of England, a work he set forth on with other monks, confronting many difficulties and dangers. It is said that he was the one to evangelize to king Ethelbert, who later became a saint and it known as Saint Adalbert. Augustine founded churches, schools, and monasteries, and was untiring in his preaching. He was named the Archbishop of Canterbury.
