He was a farmer in Madrid, Spain, during the 8th century. Isidore was married to Maria, who was also canonized. In spite of his own poverty, he always found ways to help those more poor than himself. Despite all his work, he always found time for prayer and to attend Mass daily. He is the Patron of the US National Catholic Rural Life Conference.
