May 7 – Saint Rose Venerini, M.P.V.
She was engaged, but her fiancé died, she therefore decided to enter a convent. Shortly after, Rose left the convent to care of her mother. She would gather youth from the neighborhood to pray the Rosary and soon she realized that they did not know much of their religion and started to teach them. A Jesuit, who saw her work, convinced her that her place was in the world working with youth and teachers. With two assistants Rose opened a school and was very successful. Her fame spread and she organized many schools in different places, she often has to encounter great difficulties. Her patience and confidence helped her overcome many obstacles. Later her lay teachers organized themselves as a religious congregation.
