When he was young, Peter did not possess any inclinations of kindness nor the desire to be holy. It seems he was irritable, picky, vain, hard headed and spoiled. Peter had a strong personality and was conceited, but was also inclined toward kindness and forgiveness. When he was 22-years-old, he met a Jesuit and they became friends. It was not long before he began to feel a calling to enter the Company of Jesus. Canisius began desiring a holy life and he preached, wrote and founded convents without any rest. He worked with the youth and wrote a Manual for Catholics. He was nuncio for the pope.
