Ludger was born in northern Europe in the 8th century. He had a long and thorough education and was ordained a priest. He traveled a lot taking the Good news and attracted many people to the faith in Christ. He built churches and monasteries. His country was attacked by other towns, who expelled the priests. Ludger had to go to a Benedictine monastery, where he lived for some years, but he later returned to his country and continued preaching. He was named bishop and he left behind a great example of kindness and compassion.
