March 18 - Saint Cyril of Jerusalem

He was born near Jerusalem in the 4th century. He was ordained a priest and entrusted with the mission to prepare candidates for Baptism. He wrote the instructions of what is known as the first written report of catechesis. These are a series of solid and deep catechesis. After the death of saint Maximus, Cyril was elected bishop of Jerusalem. As many other bishops and Christians of his time, Cyril suffered persecution and was expelled from his see. He died in 386 after a turbulent episcopate.

Do you think you might be called to the ministry of catechesis? How do you feel about that?
