March 12 – Saint Seraphina

If things were measured by the external, one would think Seraphina would have very little luck. Her family was rich, but became bankrupt. Her father died when she was still very young. She contracted a strange sickness that deformed and paralyzed her. From being in bed for so long, she began to produce sores that had a bad smell so no one wanted to visit her. Her mom died unexpectedly and she was left alone. Only one friend would visit her every once in a while. In midst of her suffering, Phina never lost faith, her confidence in God or happiness.

How do external events affect you? Is there something that robs you of peace and of the confidence in God?
