She was from Constantinople, the daughter of a wealthy and pious family. When her father died, her mother devoted herself to prayer at a large property they had in Egypt. One day, when Euphrasia was only seven, she went to visit a monastery with her mother, and asked to be admitted in the convent. She was a model of humility, gentleness, and charity.
