February 21 – Saint Peter Damian

He became an orphan at a very young age and his older brother received him in his house, but mistreated him. Another brother noticed what was happening and instead took Peter to his house. He treated him with love and educated him. Peter became a professor at the university, when he was only twenty years old. Shortly after he realized that the world was too dominated by the unchristian values, and decided to dedicate the rest of his life to pray for the world at a monastery. There he prayed and wrote a lot, but he was then called to be a bishop and a cardinal. The various popes he worked under had sent him to missions in many places. He is known as the defender of the truth and peacemaker.
