February 20 – Saint Eucherius of Orleans

At a very young age, this French saint realized that life was short and that one must take advantage of it. He decided to enter a Benedictine monastery where he lived for seven years until he was named bishop, at only 25 years of age. He did not want to be bishop, but by obedience, he finally accepted. He was very loved by the people. But when a politician wanted to take advantage of the church property to fight his wars, Eucherius opposed and was exiled. But the governor of the area was moved by Eucherius’ kindness and freed him, secretly sending him to a monastery, where he lived the rest of his life.
