Scholastica and Benedict were twins. Scholastica was a very intelligent and social young woman. Benedict founded a monastery which later became the Benedictine Order. When their parents died, Scholastica visited Benedict and talked about Scholastica’s desires to give herself to God. Benedict helped his sister in founding a monastery for women. Benedict and Scholastica were very close friends their entire lives, helping each other find and serve God and praying together. Scholastica died in 547.
