February 3 – Saint Blasé

He was a bishop in Turkey in the early times of Christianity. The people loved him and when he was arrested by the authorities who persecuted Christians, many went to the streets to see their beloved bishop. One young woman was carrying a child who had choked on a fish bone. Blase blessed the child, and miraculously the child was cured. Since then, one invokes Blasé for the problems with the throat.

We could also think about the problems in which we can produce with our words, sometimes reckless and offensive. Let’s ask today that our words be soft and a cure to others.
