Gildas was born in VI in Great Britain. From a very young age, he had decided to give his life to God. He wrote a lot on the calling of people to conversion and Christian compromise. Because of his zeal and passion, it seemed as though he was far too critical, but in fact, he never condemned anyone, instead he called for the right relationship with God. Many came to Glidas in search of spiritual guidance.
