January 27 - Saint Angela de Merici

An Italian of the 15th century, Angela was orphaned at a very young age. Soon afterward, her only sister also died and when Angela was 22-years-old, she realized many children knew nothing about religion. At the time there were no nuns dedicated to teaching. St. Angela was the first one to gather a group of young people to open schools for the poor. It was the beginning of the Ursuline Congregation.

How do you respond to the needs that you see around you? Do you have the creativity to see what can be done and the courage to carry it out?
