Francis came from a wealthy family and studied law. When he returned to France after his studies, he devoted himself to working hard. He did not seem interested in obtaining a higher position or a social status. Francis was hearing the call to become a priest. His family did not approve, but Francis became a priest. He worked to heal the divisions among the Christians and founded a congregation of religious, the Order of the Visitation. St. Francis wrote many books on the spiritual life. He is the patron saint of the Catholic press.
