January 24 - Saint Francis of Sales

Francis was a young man with an excellent education and a promising future. He became a lawyer while he was still very young, but he was not very interested in high positions or in the social life. In his heart he was hearing a repeated call to become a priest. His father was very disappointed because he wanted Francis to be an important man in society. But Francis followed his vocation and went to an area of France where Catholics were being fiercely persecuted. He was later appointed bishop of Geneva, Switzerland, and founded a congregation of religious women, the Visitation Sisters. He wrote many books and is the patron saint of Catholic communicators.

What are the calls you hear inside your heart? Are they repeated? Are you afraid to listen to them? How would you respond if your family opposed your vocation?
