Fabian was elected pope by the people. He was a layperson and was martyred.
Sebastian was a Roman captain, very well known for his kindness and bravery. During the Diocletian persecution, Sebastian refused to renounce his Christian faith. They shot many arrows at him and believed him to be dead. A Christian woman went to bury him and realized he was still alive. She took him home and healed him. When he was better, he returned to speak to the emperor to ask him to cease in his persecution of Christians. But the emperor ordered him to be executed.
